Rock Paper Scissors Online takes the simple game everyone grew up with and brings it to the web. The idea is deliberately plain: whether the person you want to play with is in the next room or on the other side of the world, you should be able to share a link and be throwing rock, paper, or scissors within a few seconds. It runs right in your browser with nothing to install, but if you would rather keep a shortcut on your phone, there are iOS and Android apps too.

What is it?

At its heart it is an online rock paper scissors game built for playing against real people rather than a bot. You open a room, your friend joins, and the two of you each lock in a move. To keep things fair, both choices are committed before either is revealed, so nobody can peek at the other's throw and change their mind at the last moment. The rules are the ones you already know: rock crushes scissors, scissors cut paper, paper covers rock.

How it works

There are three ways to play with someone. The first is link sharing: you start a game, get a link, and send it to a friend; the moment they open it, you both land in the same room. The second is joining by code: the game gives you a short room code that a friend can type in to join you. The third is random matchmaking for when you don't have anyone on hand; you enter the queue and get paired anonymously with someone else who wants to play right then.

Once a round starts, you each pick rock, paper, or scissors. After both players have chosen, the result is revealed at the same time and a winner is decided. If you're enjoying it, you can keep playing round after round against the same opponent.

Why I built it

Hi, I'm Özgür Özalp. I built this game chasing a very simple wish: to play a quick round of rock paper scissors with a faraway friend, without setting up some heavy app or being forced to create an account first. Most of the options out there were either buried in ads or matched me against a bot instead of a real person. What I actually wanted was to recreate that little burst of excitement in the "three, two, one, shoot!" moment between two real people.

Over time the project grew, and features like statistics, a leaderboard, and a friends system were added. But the core idea never changed: a fast, honest, and free rock paper scissors experience. I keep developing it on my own and shape it around the feedback people send in.
